Green Hornets roll past Athens.

WELLSBORO — The Green Hornets improved to 3-0 on the year with a 42-7 win over Athens in NTL action on Friday.

The Wellsboro defense did their job, limiting the Athens' leading rusher Zack Jayne to 67 yards on 19 carries a week after Jayne had over 280 yards on the ground.

Wellsboro struck first as Quinn Henry scored on a 34-yard run at 6:49 of the first quarter and Nic Ingerick hit the extra point to make it 7-0.

Aidan Hauser made it 14-0 at 2:32 as he scored on a 72-yard run and Ingerick made the extra point.

At 1:28 of the second quarter Henry scored again on a 3-yard run and Ingerick made the kick to make it 21-0. Dalton Prough hauled in a 30-yard touchdown from Henry with 39 seconds left in the half and Ingerick made the kick to make it 28-0 at the break.

In the third quarter at 11:39 Hauser had a 76-yard touchdown run and Ingerick made the kick and at 5:23 Chase Moser scored on a 49-yard run and Ingerick made the kick.

Athens got on the board with 10:36 left when Keegan Rude caught a 24-yard touchdown from Kaden Rude and Aric Westbrook made the extra point.

Hauser had 161 yards and two touchdowns on five carries and Moser ran six times for 113 yards and a touchdown. Clayton Orsborn ran for 45 yards on four carries.

Henry was 4-for-6 passing for 81 yards and a touchdown and Karter Witmer completed one pass.

Hauser had two catches for 25 yards and Prough had two grabs for 56 yards and a score, while Jacob Trowbridge had a catch.

Hunter Brown had two sacks and had a fumble recovery for Wellsboro.

Kaden Rude was 9-for-17 passing for 96 yards and a touchdown for Athens. Jayne ran for 67 yards and Nick Watkins ran for 19 yards.

Keegan Rude had four catches for 54 yards and Mateo Baglini had two catches for 11 yards. Westbrook had an 18-yard catch, Jayne had an 11-yard catch and Watkins had a 2-yard catch.
