Wellsboro edges North Penn-Mansfield in 2OT.

Wellsboro edges North Penn-Mansfield in 2OTBLOSSBURG — After two overtimes, and plenty of drama, Friday's matchup between Wellsboro and North Penn-Mansfield came down to an extra point.

Nic Ingerick hit the extra point in the second overtime to lift the Green Hornets to a 35-34 win on Friday night.

Quinn Henry started things off for Wellsboro in the first quarter as he scored on a 3-yard run at 6:55. The kick failed and it was 6-0.

Mansfield tied the game 3:10 later when Brad Pequignot scored and the two-point pass failed. Henry put the Green Hornets back on top with 2:10 left in the opening quarter when he scored on a 28-yard run. The kick failed and it was 12-6.

Pequignot scored again with 2:43 left in the half on a 1-yard run and North Penn converted on the two-point try to go up 14-12 at the half.

In the fourth quarter Chase Moser scored on a 37-yard run with 5:06 left in the game and Wellsboro got the two-point pass to make it 20-14.

Brock Burleigh tied the game for North Penn with 1:36 left on a 5-yard run. The two-point run failed and the two teams went to overtime.

In the first overtime Henry gave Wellsboro the lead with an 8-yard pass to Parker Jones. Henry had the two-point run to put Wellsboro up 28-20.

North Penn tied it as Burleigh hit Whitteker on a 4-yard pass and Burleigh threw the two-point try to tie the game.

In the second overtime North Penn struck first as Burleigh hit Garrett Bickhart on a 12-yard pass. The two-point pass failed and it was 34-28.

Wellsboro got a 4-yard run from Nick Tremper before Ingerick hit the winning extra point.

Henry ran for 145 yards on 20 carries with two scores for Wellsboro. He also was 14-for-21 passing for 91 yards and a touchdown and he intercepted two passes.

Moser gained 129 yards on 19 carries for Wellsboro and Tremper had 32 yards on 10 carries.

Jones had five grabs for 52 yards and Tremper had two catches for 25 yards. Johnny Rowland and Brandon Lamphier each had two catches.

Burleigh was 23-for-37 for 265 yards and two touchdowns for North Penn.

Whitteker had eight catches for 108 yards and a score and Bickhart had six catches for 52 yards and a score.

Pequignot had two catches for 57 yards, Brendan Hill caught three balls for 23 yards and Nick Kasper had two catches for 22 yards.

Pequignot ran 19 times for 56 yards and two scores and Burleigh gained 11 yards on 12 carries, while Sean Giles ran eight times for 29 yards.

Judson Wise and Whitteker had interceptions for North Penn.

Wellsboro finishes the regular season 8-2 and is the top seed in the District 4, Class A playoffs and will host Muncy next week, while North Penn-Mansfield is 5-5 and is the third seed and is at South Williamsport.
