With star running back Bryce Zaparzynski out Brad Pequignot took center stage in North Penn's 24-7 win over Warrior Run on Friday night.

Pequignot stepped into the starting lineup and scored every one of North Penn's points in the victory. Pequignot ran for 145 yards on 23 carries with three touchdowns and three two-point runs.

"With having Bryce out and the weather in the first half wasn't great, we knew the line would do the job and we felt good about Brad and he really stepped up," North Penn-Mansfield coach Tom Dickinson said. "In the second half our defense really took over the game.

"He (Pequignot) is a middle linebacker too, and he's used to only going one way and he had to burden the load today and played the whole game and he responded."

While Pequignot gave the offense a lift, the Panthers defense limited Warrior run to 148 total yards in the game.

"The defense did play well," Dickinson said. "Their only touchdown they were given a short field. I think they had to go 20 yards. I was very pleased with our defense."

Pequignot started the scoring at 9:20 of the first quarter when he scored on a 13-yard run and then ran in the two-point try to make it 8-0.

Warrior Run cut the deficit to one with a second left in the quarter when Matt Trukenmiller caught a five-yard touchdown from Franklin James. The Trukenmiller extra point made it 8-7.

The game stayed 8-7 into the third quarter when Pequignot scored on a 20-yard run with 5:50 left in the quarter and he had the two-point run.

In the fourth Pequignot got his third score on a two-yard run with 9:08 left and he had the two-point run to cap the scoring.

Levi Christman had seven carries for 65 yards for North Penn and Bo Burleigh had eight runs for 35 yards.

Burleigh was 2-for-16 passing for 39 yards and Christman had a catch for 15 yards and Luke Kelly had a catch for 24 yards.

"We would have liked to spread it around throwing the ball, but their defense played us tough and the conditions were not great," Dickinson said.

William Michael had 66 yards on 20 carries for Warrior Run and Shawn Morehart had five carries for 34 yards.

Franklin was 9-for-21 passing for 53 yards and Michael, Morehart and Jake Rome each had two catches in the game.
