Whitesell leads CV to win over Bucktail.

Brandon Whitesell gained 259 yards and scored three touchdowns as Cowanesque Valley picked up their second win of the season, beating Bucktail 42-28.

For the Indians the win snaps a five-game losing streak since they won their opener at Montgomery.

Cowanesque Valley jumped out to a 28-14 lead at halftime on their way to the victory.

The Indians gained 321 yards in the game.

James Burns was 2-for-6 passing for 28 yards and a touchdown in the game and he gained 29 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Ethan Mead had two catches for 29 yards for CV. Mead also had an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the victory.

Mead also had seven tackles and an interception on defense, while Whitesell also picked off a pass and had seven tackles.

Mike Presto blocked a punt, had 11 tackles, three for a loss, and a sack and Mark Kirk blocked a punt and had four tackles, while Seth LaPoint forced a fumble and had a tackle and Brendan Bell recovered a fumble and had four tackles.

Kaleb Rice had two sacks, two tackles for a loss and five tackles in the game.
