Game Results - 2007
Week 1: The defense pitches a shutout as the Tigers defeat the visiting Shamokin Indians 27-0 in a very physical game (Game Photos). Next up – a trip to Bloomsburg for the “Battle of the Big Cats”: Tigers vs. Panthers.
Week 2: The Panthers get the best of the Tigers for the first time since 1984, scoring 19 and shutting out Southern's offense (Game Photos). The Tigers look to regroup for the revenge-minded Red Tornadoes at the Silver Bowl in week 3.
Week 3: The offense gets back on track and the defense stays strong as the Tigers even the series at 6-6 with a convincing 31-14 win over the Red Tornadoes (Game Photos). Week 4 brings the Tigers home for a final matchup with the Green Dragons of Lewisburg.
Week 4: The Tigers get fired up in the second half and roll to a 42-21 win over the Lewisburg Green Dragons (Game Photos). Next on the schedule is a trip to Turbotville for a test against the dangerous offense of the Warrior Run Defenders.
Week 5: Southern puts together a complete game and comes away with a 33-6 win over the Defenders (Game Photos). The second half of the first season starts next week with the Hughesville Spartans paying a visit to Tiger Stadium.
Week 6: The Tigers come though for the Homecoming crowd as they defeat the Spartans 38-14 (Game Photos). Southern stays home next week to host the undefeated Lancers of Loyalsock Twp in a game with playoff implications for both teams.
Week 7: Holy cow, what a game! This was one of those games you hate to see anyone lose but the Tigers pull ahead with a score in the 4th quarter and the defense holds for a 21-17 win over a very powerful Loyalsock Lancers team (Game Photos). A 3-hour trip west for a match with Clarion is in the cards for week 8 – give a honk to the other Tiger fans you see you on I-80!
Week 8: The Tigers struggle through jet lag (bus lag?) but still get a 19-6 “W” against the Clarion Bobcats (Game Photos). Next week, a thankfully short trip up the road to visit the Central Columbia Blue Jays.
Week 9: Southern runs and passes their way to a 42-18 victory over Central Columbia on a beautiful Saturday afternoon (Game Photos). The regular season ends next week with a drive up Rt 54 and a televised final match with the Danville Ironmen.
Week 10: The regular season and series finale between Southern and the Danville Ironmen proves to be very entertaining as the Tigers prevail 47-34 (Game Photos). Next week, the District 4 Class A playoffs begin with the Tigers hosting the Eagles of Line Mountain in a rematch of last year's District 4 title game.
Week 11: The Tigers end their season in the first round of the playoffs for the first time in a long, long, time. The Line Mountain Eagles earn the right to move on to the District 4 Championship game by defeating the Tigers 22-17 in a hard-fought game at Tiger Stadium (Game Photos). Hats off to the Eagles for a well played game that went down to the wire and wasn't decided until the final seconds.
